Hi,

Ok,since I didn't know how I could contact Tomshardware I will do it via the forum, and somewhat hope to bring a topic worth wile to talk about!

Lately I've seen many UMPC(Ultra Mobile PC's) like Asus Eee and likes(7-9" screen) appearing, and would like to request a comparing review on tomshardware!

The purpose of the review would be to make clear to the user the differences between the models, and help the user in their choice of the right mobile pc for them.

I had some ideas of tests that could be done, but unfortunately I don't have the budget neither the connections and resources to do these tests myself.

Even if I had, I don't have the credibility Tomshardware has to state the test results, and neither have I such a large audience to reach.

Here's my request:
To Review Following Hardware:
-Acer Aspire One
-Elonex One
-OLPC XO
-EEE PC 900 & 1000 series
-MSI Wind
-Kohjinsha SC3 (and likes)
-Dell E
-Gigabyte M912X / Gigabyte M912S
-HP 2133
-...(maybe there are others?)

Review topics could include following tests:
- Tech.spec comparison chart
- Pricing

- Original OS Boot times
- Original OS Battery life

- Common OS boottimes (eg:Windows XP,or Ubuntu variant)
- Common OS Battery life

- Windows XP benchmarks (3dmark 03/05, PC mark05, Sisoft Sandra, Performance Mark)
- Games benchmarks (Using fps counter)

- Disk bench tests

- Processor speed test (if differs from the Atom),like eg: winrar compression/time test, audio/video encoding test, and other standard TomsHardware tests...

- Video card tests: Eg: test fps on running DOOM, Unreal Tournament, and likes ...
- Test to see if device is capable of decoding HD video/1080/720pix,
- Comparing Windows VS the Linux variant, to see which os gives faster fps on these notebooks when running eg: UT or DOOM

- Program response time (eg: opening a 80MB .pdf file)

- Price / performance review
- 'What You Get Extra' review (eg: touchscreen?, 2x SD cardreaders?, 2x ramslots?, Higher resolution?,...)
- Performance per Watts?

Many of these notebooks are pricy, but are they worth their extra $300 over the cheaper ones?

this question also leads me to ask if all Atom based netbooks(UMPC, or however you want to call it) have similar performance or not?

All the other reviews like buildquality(eg:material strength), layout(eg:size and handy-ness of the harware), and so on.. of specific models and brands can be found in their technical specs sheet, and other sites doing mobile review.

With this request I would rather want a comparing review, that in the same enviroment compares the multiple devices (where possible).

thank you!
