Well, you guys convinced me that the 6860/6831 gateway at Bestbuy was the best bang for the buck. Apparently I missed the 1250 sale on the 6860 (1.83 GHZ) and it is now 1350. The 6831 is 1250 (1.67 Ghz). Is the better proc worth 100$, truly? Are there 3d mark scores out there on these? Anyone know when there would be another sale or have any advice on bringing the purchase price down (i.e. coupons or online deals)? Are there any laptops out there in the similar price bracket with comparable Video cards? What is ATI's competition to the 8800?

If you can afford a little extra, I'd go for one of these. Between the two above, keep in mind that the 6860 has 4GB memory while the 6831 only has 3 and is NOT UPGRADEABLE (according to Bestbuy, that is.) Also, the 6831 is .9lb lighter and comes without SP1 preinstalled. Is the 6860 worth the extra hundred? IMHO, yes, if you can't afford something like I showed you.
When hunting for a laptop, you can use this website to research video cards. Very useful!
