Hey guys, my brother just got a new Xplorer X5-5900 Notebook from Cyberpowerpc, and he's having issues. BIG, BIG issues.

First, the specs (to my best of knowledge):

Intel Duo Core 2 2.0 GHz processor.
Originally 1 Gig, now it has two and a half (1 two gig and one 512).
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit edition.
8600 GO Graphics Card (Nvidia GeForce).

RAM is a two gig from Transcend at PC2-5300. And 1 512 stick from Corsair at 5300.

The issue is that every now and then (usually at start-up), the notebook enters a crash memory dump due to either a software or hardware error. Basically, I see a blue screen declaring an error for about 5 seconds and then it jumps right back to the boot-up mode. I have no idea why this is happening, neither does he.

Anyone know anything about Vista Ultimate crashing with only 2.5 Gigs of RAM? I'm positive it only needed 2 to run at a good capacity, so I'm thinking this has to be some other kind of error (hardware?).

Did the system boot before you changed the RAM? If it did, return the RAM back to it's original configuration.

Take out the Corsair memory.
Corsair is total junk.
I have 2 grand worth of it here to prove it.

The single 2 Gig chip is awesome in theory, but I have found with VISTA it causes problems.

sounds like it could be a hardware problem caused by a bad driver. on bootup the computer loads drivers, hardware acts unexpectedly bad driver/wrong driver and so crashes. causing a kernal error and the system goes in BSOD due to security reasons. my PCI linksys card used to do it on my desktop and my built in wireless that came with the latop done it occasionally when i installed vista, but stopped doing it later.
