Some keys don't map

On my IBM think pad, windows xp, having lots of trouble with some keys not activating when computer boots.

Specifically, the nine, eight, seven and zero, ampersand, letter p and letter o.

then they'll work, ... then they don't.

fan works a lot and unit stops processing when fan is engaged.
getting a lot of script error messages when using the net. sometime error message won't go away with normal close function.

any ideas? any realationship between these things?
