Okay... so I'll try it again with XoticPC and see if any who has had experiences chime in.
So... anyone know anything about www.Xoticpc.com and have personal experiences with them? That'd be great if you can let us know of your experiences. I am pretty impressed with their customer service thus far but would like to know more about their technical support etc
To simplify, you have but changed the name of the company.
This is a 2'nd tier distributor.
The system is built at Sager, shipped by Sager, supported by Sager, warrantied by Sager, etc. etc. etc...

You seem to know quite a bit about them. Have you dealth with them before or know people who have?
They seem to sell Sager baed machines but also ASUS, Compaq, MSI, etc.
The owner of a few companies and I got into it on a couple of forums.
I am unlike most people. I take insults and criticisms and try to find the root of them. I look at them from many different angles and try to see if there is any merit to the claim so I can correct any real problems if they do in fact exist.
I have found that many times things people say are actually mirrored statements... they are truly the weakness of the one making the claim. I took the things that were being said and researched them. It was during this research that led me to the realization that almost none of the companies out there selling notebooks actually build them. That is something many, many people did not know, and I was one of them.
One of the things they were saying was that "Notebooks are all the same."
I started to see a cloning effect that things I was offering were being adopted by other companies in an attempt to "look as-if". Suddenly all these companies that were portraying themselves as bigger, more established, and better started changing their tune to, "We are the same as...", then, "We are just as good as..." and whatever happens to them now is insignificant to me because I realized they are not my competition. They are not doing it. They are simply order takers.
If you ever call the first tier distributors, the ones actually building the notebooks, and the ones supporting the notebooks, you will find the tech support is non-existent, the components they use are whatever they can get their hands on for the cheapest amount, the Dead pixel policy means 5 dead pixels.
The system isn't optimized, or tweaked, if you call them, they aren't familiar with the games you are playing or what can be done to improve performance for your specific needs. If your a gamer, or an engineer, CAD/CAM designer, HD tv content editor, small business... whatever, you have different needs. I for one want to be talking to someone who knows the difference and can give me what I want and explain to me what it is and why I need it... and I want it to perform.
So here's what I know. I know mediocrity when I see it. You throw a different paint job on the same ole jalopy and it runs the same.
Final thoughts: In a symbiotic system, the components have been tested to work together optimally. More than likely they are high end components and they are NOT the cheapest things available.
Know the difference between the skills and passion to constantly be striving to be better and come up with the next thing, and "me too's".
If someone loves it if someone is taking it to the next level, they are probably going to take allot pride in your system.
Okay, so I've had the laptop I bought from Xotic PC for a couple of weeks
now so I figure it's time to update people on this forum on my thoughts.
I enjoyed dealing with Justin and Amber at xoticpc.com. They were easy
to get in touch with (yayye for live chat) and very helpful.
The laptop itself is high quality (I am a big fan of ASUS now). I got ASUS
not only because I heard good things about their quality and they have
such a huge range of selection, but also because they have the 30 day
no-dead-pixel guarantee.
Kudos to Amber at XoticPC.com for making me aware of that ^^
I haven't gotten the skin mod yet but plan on doing so in the near future.
From reading about their supplier of the paint job
(http://laptopdesignusa.com/) and the reviews
(http://www.modders-inc.com/reviews-story--125.html) I am looking
forward to getting the mod done.
I'll add to this post with a review of the modification after I get my laptop
modded.
Overall, I am quite impressed with Xotic PC and Justin and Amber for their
efforts. I haven't had any problems with the laptop (which is a good thing
since I just got it a couple of weeks ago) so I cannot comment on their
tech support yet.
Here's what I put on resellers.com for my impressions of Xotic PC:
Quote :
My experience with Xotic PC started off right away in the right direction -
live chat!
After a horrible experience with another vendor that lasted a month and a
half and NO laptop in my hands (talk about wasted time and effort) I was
really careful of my shopping experience.
I treated carefully onto Xotic PC’s website looking to grill them and make
sure they truly do have “customer service” and not just saying they do. I
wanted to be sure that, unlike the last merchant, they were good to their
words, sincere, and honest.
I clicked “Live Chat” with a host of questions. Amber picked up on the
other end within a few seconds (literally) and handled my questions like a champ.
Not only did she answer the technical questions I had, she also freely gave
her own personal opinions (some of which even SAVED me money) when I
asked for them. (I hope Xotic PC doesn’t mind my saying this… well… just ask them
about ASUS and how they handle any dead pixel warranties; you’ll be grateful you asked.
I know I was!
To put it shortly, throughout the whole process they were very patient with
me (and my questions) and NEVER did they try to convince me that I really should be
spending more for a bigger laptop… (This is something the last merchant did, he
mentioned that I should be looking at his 17”
laptops and NOT the 14.1” I was interested in.)
They were easy to contact (email, phone, and online chat) and very
friendly to talk to!
I ended up getting the FORCE 3547 ASUS A8JS, and even though I had to
skimp on a few options (limited budget), I still love the machine!
The ASUS laptop came in the time frame I was promised (it took the last
merchant a month and a half to get me my machine). And get this! There
were no scratches on the machine! (The last merchant’s machine had a
scratch on it… and rather than agreeing to fix it he basically told me that if
I send it back, he would NOT fix it but rather, refund me the money.
That is what I did.)
ANNNND, the ASUS laptop actually came with a manual, the appropriate CDs, the mouse,
a bag and well, it’s just well-packaged. It actually looks like it came from a
place where the laptop was cared for, wrapped professionally, and well protected.
The last merchant… you get the idea.
It’s these little things that really do make a difference. In the end, the
product they shipped was as promised - high quality. (Unlike the product
the last merchant sent to me and I had returned. The merchant even
admitted that he felt the laptop he sent was "junk"...)
Dealing with Xotic PC has been a pleasure. I just got done chatting with Justin
from Xotic PC and he was very happy and eager to answer the
additional questions I had for him.
I feel comfortable and confident doing business with Xotic PC and will
continue to do so.
They have demonstrated to me that they do give a d**n about their
customers. They are honest, accountable, and reliable – characteristics that
are a must in today’s business world.
Ok well I have to disagree with the glowing review stated above.
I had a horrible experience with XoticPC recently.
I was told the machine was in stock. I placed the order. Status changed to processing. 8 days later (it should have already shipped by then according to their policies) I call in to ask why it still listed as level 3 (level 5 is item shipped)
and I got a different answer every time. Finally they told me that they had not received the funds until the 25th. I called my bank and their bank and both stated funds deposited on 20th. So what's up with that?
I finally cancel the order and they tell me over the phone that I won't get all of my money back. ?! I check online 2 min later and they changed the status to "shipped" but earlier in the day before I canceled order they told me that they had put in a bad hard drive that needed to be changed and retested (another 24-48 hours). I ask for the tracking number and they say there is not one until the following day (even though already shipped? )
After cancellation I ask for a statement as proof of cancellation so they respond by email stating: "hello your order is canceled"
Overall very rude over the phone. Try making a complaint to Amazon.com and see the difference.
I had a good experience with xotic. When the Sager 2090 was out for only a month or two I email xotic asking if I ordered such and such when would it be shipped. They gave me a reply and it was shipped 2-3 days earlier than they said. So I give them props for being honest and not lying to me about the ship date like some companies might. By the way I absolutely love the Sager.
I also had a horrible experience with xoticpc. I placed an order for a Sager NP5797 ($3000+ laptop). I used a coupon I found online for $37 off of shipping. The coupon was accepted by their system, order was placed, all is good. I get an email the next day stating the coupon code doesn't apply for the laptop I ordered. I spoke to them over the phone and by online chat asking where on their website does it state it doesn't work for that laptop. I was treated in a rude manner and never did get pointed to anything other than a general disclaimer that said some codes are only accepted for particular systems. Basically they weren't going to accept the code although their system accepted it and the order was placed. Because I was mislead and treated in a rude manner, I canceled my order. I'll use pctorque or the sager website instead. Avoid at all costs!
I am just updating this so others who may wish to work with Xotic will be aware of problems. I have never owned or even seen a Sager, but with all of the glowing reviews I decided to try one. I ordered one thru Xotic PC and immediately ran into problems. I am working overseas with the US Military and wanted a PC to be waiting at my house when I returned from overseas. The build time appeared to be about 10 days and I placed my order on the 1st of Nov.
I asked for the PC to be shipped to my house, which was the billing address for the credit card. I asked for the PC to be shipped to me, which was the name on the credit card. For some strange inexplicable reason they decided that this might be a stolen credit card. Someone back there decided that I had stolen the card and was going to purchase something for the credit card holder and have it shipped to his house where I was going to somehow gain access to the shipment. If I was shipping it to someone or somewhere other then the proper shipping address and billing address I could somewhat understand, but this reasoning defies logic. (at least to me)
We finally worked out that I was me and I could buy stuff for myself and ship it to myself, but then they decided that they were out of stock!!
I get the impression that this is one or two guys working out of there garage and are not really setup to do business.
