MobilityGuru readers help Barry Gerber find the Boris the Kitten screensaver and send in more funny tech support stories.
I like these articles. Lighthearted and funny, and although they don't spark the controversy which comes from some articles, they are fun to read and a good start to the morning.
I LOVED that warranty exchange story LOL

Ah Boris!! A screenshot is nice, but... I had it once on a 286. I don't have the main computer any more of course but I'm racking my brains wondering if I saved the MFM drive among my collection or put the screensaver onto a floppy. I do have a collection of DOS screensavers and it's remarkable how sophisticated they could be. It would be great to actually have the DOS program itself, surely any copyright has run out, no one has to be paid??
if i'm not mistaken copyright lasts 70 years after the author/company/whatever dies/doesn't exist anymore/whatevers, however, i'm not sure if this also applies to computers since the technology changes so rapidly and it would be unfair to have an obsolete program under copyright?

and why the frock is this in the mobile section? how about community-->support/hotlines?!?!?!?
this is getting very annoying... you could even make a section just for the articles "discuss" links....

I would guess because it's a "mobilityguru" article. but you're right, I would also like to see a special forum just for article discussions.
Well this story happend about year ago.
I work as a support for customers that buy our local brand computers.
And the guy brought a pc,and was quite upset becouse his daughter could not log on to msn and could not chat with her friends.Ok
So i conected computer and asked for a password, guy told me it was five stars...i was not quite sure what he had in mind so i asked him to write it down on paper (as it was more discrete).
He wrote ***** ... a was lol-ing all day long.
Also one guy gave me a floppy (in a very suspicius way) and wispered to me
"could you copy internet on that".
A ended up loling all day long
Well, the last one was in Mobile Phones or some other wacked out subforum...
I know that when certain articles are in certain places that that determines where the forum starts, but MOST people read the article and follow the link. People who would want to contribute to the PC horror stories will not come to this forum looking for it!!!
Oh, and that warranty complainer was funny. It is one thing to ask nicely and maybe get a few replacement parts, but what was this guy thinking getting his little daughter a laptop like that??!?
back in the mid-90's I ran an adult BBS with my ex. We had a guy leave a post, wanting to download a new modem. My ex, liking a good joke, sent him an ASCII graphic of a modem.
