Get this. Last night, I called Dell about a notebook I wanted to purchase. I asked if they could get a better deal. The rep said he'll check and call me back. He never did. I called Dell back late only to discover they were closed for the day (Dell Business). Well, I had discounts on the system that expired at midnight.

The guy has yet to call me back (Derrell ?). I didn't get his extension and forgot his full name. I went back in today and found that the machine, as configured is now $108 more expensive. I call Dell back this morning to see if they would make good on the previous night's offer, especially since their rep didn't call me back. This new guy, don't remember his name, said that he really couldn't do anything for me, that I'd just have to buy what they had today. I was being nice. I asked to speak to a manager. He hemmed and hawed, saying that he couldn't really do that right now. ?? He said that he'd have someone get back to me via email/etc. I asked again, "There's not someone I can't speak to there?" Then he simply hung up on me. Nice. (Why, at this point, didn't I just tell Dell to stick it? I thought about it....)

I call back and finally get someone competent on the line.

The learning? Whenever you call Dell, the absolute first thing to do is to ask for the rep's name and extension. Do it! You'll be glad you did. When they are anonymous they'll treat you like crap. Out of 4 call made to Dell's business sales group yesterday and today, 3 were clunkers. That's pretty bad. And these weren't overseas calls.

That's a sarcastic way to say DELL sucks... on the DL.

I was looking at getting a dell or alienware notebook for gaming, but after doing some research I bought one of KillerNotebooks' Executioners (price couldn't be beat -- $1500 less and with better features than a similarly configured Dell).

And speaking of customer service, I had a question about some software on my Executioner this morning, so I emailed Killernotebooks. I got a response back within an hour answering my question and including a screenshot and a short video showing how to do it.

Just thought I'd pass that along in case anybody was on the fence. ;-)
