Hi. I want to buy a laptop but I don't have a clue 8O : Which is the best manufacture?(HP, DELL, TOSHIBA, MSI..)
Someone told me that the HP-COMPAQ laptops are not very good, that they have a lot of technical issues. Is that true?
The 2nd question is which cpu is best: AMD turion 64 or centrino with pentium M ?

Depends on what you're using it for. That system is fine for school and ordinary tasks. It will handle them w/o a problem. The next thing would be, what do they want for it?

I would look at:

80 GB hard drive, is that enough space, what is the rpm of it? The faster the hard drive the faster your system. A 1.8 Ghz Turion with a 7,200 rpm hard drive will run circles around a 2.4 Ghz Turion with a 4,200 rpm hard drive.

The screen is a good size, but how is the brightness, contrast, and sharpness of it as well as color reproduction? Is it matte or glossy?

1 Gig of memory: Is that on 1 chip or 2? Can you upgrade in the future? What is the speed of the memory, specifically the timings of the latency?

ATI Radeon Express 200 GPU: That is an integrated GPOU, which, as integrated GPU's go is one of the better ones. Are you going to be able to play games with decent framerates... no.
