Some sites seem to be working up interest for Microsoft's Origami project. What Microsoft has to say seems all flash, no substance, but what rumors I've seen match up to what Pepper Pad has been offering for quite some time.
I guess its a matter of marketing dollars.
I find myself wish for a Pepper Pad with a Turion X2 cpu. That should blow a few socks off.

as a mobile PC origami may succeed as a successor to laptops.

but as a mobile gaming platform... sorry

i'd rather consider something built from the ground up by MS following what they've learned over the last half decade with xbox and even longer beyond that with their games studio.

all the functionality offered in origami can be bundled into a handheld like the one in the link while the media aspect remains the core focus. where users can download and stream content from their home machines, from friends, from the internet and from Microsoft through xbox live marketplace.

as a mobile device with something like wiMAX to keep it tethered to the internet and xbox live i believe MS could easily dominate mobile media and gaming where APPLEs iPOD and iTUNES have for so long been king.

A possible xbox handheld from Microsoft
