Hi ,

I got about 1000USD plus minus to spend on a new laptop.
please recommend and tell me what to watch out for.
I saw a Somona IBM ThinkPad R51e with 1.73 Ghz CPU for about that price.

Please recommend a good company laptop

Now watch out for Dell! They 'bait & switch' because they tried it with me. I have the proof! Finally, one of the reps admitted they could not sell me for the price I received online using a 20% discount coupon Dell themselves emailed me to use. They also give you the endless runaround on the phone if you ever have problems. I have owned Dell's since 1996 and will never buy from them again. Watch out because they add Sales Tax too!

Try this company. They are absolutely accomodating and the laptops stand with the rest in comparison. The sales/tech support is outstanding with no more than 5 minute telephone hold time and they speak ENGLISH that you can understand!!!
