I think you might be able to.. it'd involve mixing and/or inverting the
stereo channels.. I'm not sure though, it's been a long time since i've
done it

not unless the vocals exist at an entirely different frequency than the rest
of the music.

http://www.analogx.com/contents/do [...] emover.htm - download the
DirectX version. It will either remove them (to some degree or another, and
screw up the sound in other ways you don't want) or it won't.

If you recorded the songs yourself and the vocal is on a separate
track, then sure. Just turn it off. But I suspect that you're talking
about commercial music.

There are some tricks for reducing (it's called "eliminating" ) the
vocal of a song. Sometimes they work pretty well and sometimes they
don't. It involves inverting one of the stereo tracks and mixing them
together, sometimes with some bandpass filtering to preserve some of
the stereo image. The principle is that the lead vocal is almost
always in the center, which means appears equally on both tracks. By
inverting the polarity of one track and mixing it with the other
track, you cancel anything that's the same on both tracks (as well as
screw up a lot of other stuff. But it won't eliminate the vocal reverb
which is close to random so it's not identical on the two tracks.

There are some "vocal eliminator" plug-ins. You may even have one with
Sonar. Look around. It's easier to use a plug-in than to try to cobble
up something yoursef.

Folks,

Lots of interesting replies here! I've used the AnalogX plugin, it's decent.
There was also a standalone program called "Yo-Gen Vocal Remover" or
something like that. And they give different results on the same source
piece.

But in Sound Forge, you have another option: use the Process > Channel
Converter menu pick, then select the "[Sys] Stereo to Stereo - Vocal Cut
(remove center material)" preset. Modify the settings to taste, click "OK".
You're done.

BTW, all of these solutions usually sound bad. Do'nt be so lazy; do your own
arrangements if you want an accompaniment track.

You're pretty dumb mate... Why would he ask "How to take out vocals of my own track I recorded?" Any dumb Bastard could work it out, as you did and you are pretty fricken stupid... Think about the question and the answer before you type something so incredibley idiotic.
