I have a DSL modem and use ZoneAlarm and Pop-up Stopper. I ran Regcleaner the other day and found a new entry after the scan that was identified as "Transponder". No auther was identified. What is a transponder(from an internet, not an aviation perspective), is it something intrusive, and if it is, how do I protect myself from it. I deleted it with no problem to my system, but I'd like to know what it is.

Just an educatd guess but I'm thinking the term is used due to its resemblence to an aviation transponder i.e. the system is queried and a unique identifier is sent back in response. It may also have been part of the setup package in the firewall to gather info about ports, ip address etc etc on your system
