Does any one know if altech is going to make a higher quality 5.1-6.1+ computer speaker system. I love there speakers and their sound, and I know they have a lot of inovating products, but it seems they are way behind the ball when It comes to a high end 5.1 system when compared to Klipsch and the logitech 680's.I would love to see a good 6.1, with dts and high power from altech.

Well, i'm not sure, at lower and medium ranges, I can't tell a difference between Klipschs and Altec Lansing 4.1 and 5.1 systems i've used. All depends on your needs really, whether it's value or high end. The best i've seen from Altec Lansing are the ATP 4.1 and the 641's (the 4.1's), they're pretty good, although I don't know much about their 5.1's as much. I use the Altec Lansing 251, and I modded the wiring and mounts to go on my wall. They work nicely, and are reliable.

Instead of Rdram, why not just merge 4 Sdram channels...

Yes, I think that for a 4.1 system the altech 641's are great, but my point is 5.1+, If the would add a chanel to the 641 and include a digital input, they would rock!

Hmm, again though, price wise, it goes against their doctrine for "best bang for the buck." A center fire speaker would probably also have to be 50 watt or so, and that'll jack up the price even higher, probably above $200 (which may be worth it if they are comparable to the Klipsch or Logitech 5.1). Other than that, Altec Lansing's a great company, Logitech does a good job in the value area as well, but higher end, Klipsch still rules
