V180 - Changing the colour of the outer LCD

Hi all. I got my V180 and the outer LCD panel (the bit with the time) looked
nothing like in the brochures with its cool blue background light. So
tonight I set about modding it but I did not want to ruin the phone by
taking it all apart so what I did was my children had a spare pair of those
cardboard 3D glasses with a 3D DVD Film (spykids 3D I think it was) there is
red see through plastic on one side and blue on the other side.

I cut with a pair of scissors the coloured plastic just slightly larger than
the LCD Display at the back of the phone. Then all I had to do was remove
the V180 outer phone cover (Motorola calls it the lens) and slipped the
piece of coloured plastic over the internal LCD display then carefully
replaced the lens (or cover, whatever) - didn't have to use any glue or
anything because when the lens was put back on that held the coloured
plastic in place. - 5 minute job at that, didn't void the warranty on the
phone, didn't ruin the phone but the difference its made is lovely. The
phone looks even cooler than it did before.

If I get fed up with the blue colour then all I have to do is slip in the
red coloured plastic from the other side of the 3D glasses.

I don't know what my kids will make of me wrecking their 3D glasses but at
least I will be able to show them my new improved V180 phone! :-)

If you cannot lay your had on a pair of 3D glasses then I am sure you could
get some see through coloured plastic from somewhere else (photographers
acetate of something).
