What is Longhorn ? Microsoft Longhorn, im assuming it's an OS...is it out, or when will it be out...

Longhorn will be released next year. It's not a big release though. What you should be waiting for is service pack for XP, and then the next major revamping of windows called Blackcomb which will be out in 2004.

Aye, Longhorn will be MS's next Windows OS. I have heard it will be based on a SQL-type file system... be interesting to see what that does.

dhlucke, can you fill me in on a little more info!, what is this Service pack you are talking about, and what's in it ? and, BlackComb will be the Newest OS... we'll have to wait till 2004.... Will LongHorn be better then XP,? Thanks Dhlucke...

Try this url. I don't know if they've updated it lately, but it will give you some decent information.

The service pack will include all of the WindowsXP updates that have been released to date.

i'd imagine that any interim updates to XP before the next MAJOR release will be pretty minmal and unnecessary

Like if you had W98(1stEdition) and then saw W98SE or WinME you'd question what the point was, however going from W98 -> XP Pro is worth it.
