Hello, I'm new here so I'm just going to get straight to the point.

I am getting an unlocked MPX200 from eBay. I understand from checking on the
net that it is possible to upgrade the OS of the phone to smartphone 2003.
Does anyone know if this is true, where I can get it and how to install it?

Also, if anyone has one of these phones, how are they? Ny son threw my palm
pilot into the toilet so I am with out an organizer and could use a new
phone, so I figured... two birds, one stone.

Thanks in advance.

Jason

Well, I have a MPX200 and I have also updated it to 2003. Now I can say
its a nice smartphone, but keep in mind that its a phone first and a pda
second. I did like the fact that will sycn with outlook, and that it also
sync's your contacts. But its poor on battery life, video play back is ..
well not so good. and as a mp3 player its not that great ether. Now if
your not going to use it as any of that then .... No worries go at it.
But if you were using the functions I just said, dont expect them to work
all that well on that phone. Now I have seen some of the newer
smartphones and they are getting better. But this phone was made in the
eary starting days of the smartphone. And as I said before it is a nice
smartphone, Its my backup phone if somthing bad happens to my curent
phone. But to each there own, and I dont want to discurage you from
getting your phone, I just to give out as much info as i can.

Good luck and have fun with you new phone.
(P.S.) One other thing I didnt like about the smartphones was that there
was no support for word or excel docs. Something that is standerd for
Windows Mobile 2003.

Thanks so much for the info. I have a 20gb iPod so I won't need th
eentertainment functions so much as I need a replacement for the plam pilot
my little boy put in the toilet ;-)

How did you go about updating the OS? I'll need excel and word and my phone
is coming loaded with the original 2002 OS.

Thanks....

Jason
