Hardware and software required, to update firmware of 6230:-

Software first:-

Either a bus ticket, or fuel for your car.

Hardware:-

A bus, for transfer, or a car, also for transfer.

Additional hardware required:-

A Nokia service agent.

As long as your phone is "within warranty" then they should upgrade the
firmware Free of Charge.

If you were to buy the equipment to do this on your desktop/laptop, I think
you may find the cost prohibitive (unless of course you have bundles of cash
:-)

Sorry mate. Don't work that way....

That's okay for ringtones and graphics, etc, but not for a firmware update.
