About Sony memory stick Pro - Magic Gate

I have a Sony DSC W5 camera and got a 512 MB Sony Memory Stick Pro/Magic
Gate today.
I was going to get a 256 MB stick, but the one I got was a good price.
This is the first memory stick I have bought for the camera and I never
noticed the Magic Gate part on the memory stick till I got home. Can
someone who has the Sony DSC W5 tell me if I should be just getting
Memory stick Pro and not Memory stick pro/Magic Gate which I read is
more to do with recordings and music. I have a feeling I got the wrong
memory stick.

That was fast Can you please tell me what the difference is between
Sony Memory stick Pro Magic Gate and regular Sony memory stick Pro?
Since I posted my message, I found a part in my instruction manual which
lists memory sticks to use with the DSC W5 with notes beside them.
One note said: "Memory stick Magic Gate and Memory stick Pro are
equipped with Magic Gate functions. Magic Gate is copyright technology
that uses encryption.Data recording and playback which uses Magic Gate
cannot be used with this camera" (this last part made me wonder). Also,
what is meant by "supports high speed transfer using parallel
interface" - what is parallel interface? After I bought the Sony memory
stick pro/Magic gate it seemed like the price was very good, since it
was on sale $30.00 off. It was only $10.00 more than the regular 256 MB
Memory Stick Pro. I thought the opposite of what you are saying - that
maybe Magic gate was on its way out and thats why it was cheap.

I live in Toronto and in the stores here, they sell both Sony Memory
stick pro cards which don't say anything about Magic Gate and also Sony
Memory stick Pro cards which say Magic Gate on them. Thats what confused
me when I saw Magic Gate on the memory card. The regular Memory stick
Pro cards were more prevalent here than the ones with Magic Gate. But
when I read the back of the memory stick package, it seems to have
features you don't need on digital cameras, such as enhanced video or
something, so some space must be wasted for Magic gate features not
needed by cameras?

Even regular Memory sticks, originally made just by Sony, were quite
expensive here till about a year ago or maybe a little more, when Sony
let other companies make them and after the Pro version came out,
gradually the prices went down quite a lot. They are now about $10.00
more here than SD cards, and CF are cheaper than SD.
