The MS Location Finder with Virtual Earth uses Wi-Fi table look-ups to
determine location, if Wi-Fi is active. If not active, Location Finder does
a look-up on your IP address.

Has anyone tried Microsoft Location Finder while tethered to a notebook from
a handset?

I was in a location this morning where the virtualearth.msn.com "locate me"
had my position exactly right via WiFi.

Via Cingular GPRS, it said it was pinpointing my location via my IP
address, but it was just showing the default map, sort of centered on
Denver, CO.

There doesn't seem to be any control to use an IP address or the WiFi once
you install that tool, nor any place to put in an IP address of interest.
