hello,

Uniwill N259IA (from mwave.com)
WinXP Pro

The wireless built-in Pro/Wireless 2200bg isn't strong enough
for my interests, so I'm trying out the
Netgear WG511t PCMCIA (paired with the WG624 v2 router)
card adapter.

Driver Date: 3/5/2004
Driver Version: 3.0.1.6

The card only misbehaves after a timeout/suspend. If it's the first
occurence after booting up, then running a repair on the Network
Control Panel connection object works, and I reconnect. The next
suspend is not repairable, so I cure it with a reboot. This pattern/behavior
is consistent and after a few days I'm used to it.

I experimented with the "safely remove hardware" to restart the adapter
but that never led to a good reconnect.

Is this typical behavior for this device?

P.S.
It nearly always will connect at 108 Mbs. Sandra04 benchmarks tranfer
network speed at 5-6 MB/s with encryption.

thanks for your comments,

I don't know about your setup, but my US Robotics USR5410 (WiFi
811.11g) and my 2Wire HomePortal 1000HG setup sort of acts like this
using Standby or Hibernation. What works best so far for me is to
turn the radio off (stops broadcasting) before using those two
modes. Then when the computer is turned back on, I turn on the
radio. It works well.

WPA is worse than WEP for speed. I use WPA here and because of the
2Wire, max speed is 54M bps. Although that is typical of my speeds
too. Although sometimes it gets up around 20M bps. But it usually
won't hold it that long.

Cheers!
