Hi folks,

I am going to buy a notebook in a couple of days. I am intending to buy
an IBM Thinkpad R51. There are two version available at almost the same
price, one with an ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 and one with an Intel
855GME. Which of these chips would you prefer?

So long,

Tilman

The one with the actual video ram not shared ram. OTOH, if you intend
any serious gaming, the ATI is very dated. Current versions are Radeon
9000 series. The 7500 might not be much more capable than the Intel
with current games.

Here's a good source of info:

First page is for ATI mobile chipsets, second - Nvidia, third - Intel.

Radeon 7500 definitely looks old, yet it's clearly better than whatever
Intel has.
