AM3 build
Forum Homebuilt Systems : New System Build - AM3 build
I was on a $700 budget for my older brothers new build for CODMW2 (yes, I am disappointed with IW too).. How balanced is this system that i just ordered? I wanted to make it so it had some upgrade room later on.
I also bought combos on the CPU/Mobo & PSU/GPU which saved me 25.00 each
AMD Athlon II X4 620 (99.00)
ASUS M4A79XTD EVO AM3 AMD 790X (119.99)
XFX HD-577A-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 (Juniper XT) 1GB 128-bit GDDR5 (174.99)
OCZ ModXStream Pro OCZ700MXSP 700W (99.99)
Antec Three Hundred Illusion (59.95)
Thermaltake A2492 Case fan for side panel (8.99)
Patriot Viper 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (85.99)
Logitech MX518 Mouse
Microsoft ANB-00001 Keyboard
(i never intend on putting more than 600 watts on the PSU, even when crossfiring 5770s)

It looks very balanced to me!! You should be very happy with your build and you did a great job with your build for your budget!!

If you can, change the PSU with this one: Corsair 650TX
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] ir%20650tx
It has higher amps rating on the +12V and will also doe 57700 CF
EDIT: other than that, your build seems solid.

Thanks, I hope everything goes well.. My brother better be happy with it.. i spent hours trying to put together a rig that was somewhat future proof, low power but also fast enough for FPS.. (I also bought the same motherboard CPU and RAM)
I will be learning to Overclock again after selling my Opteron 165 (939). And since i will overclock my rig i can pass on the settings to my brothers PC. (nice bonus for him)

That does look nice, but the PSU was a combo with the GPU (and i've never messed with modular so that will be nice)
Ok then. Thats the problem with the Corsair's PSU. There isn;t ANY combo for them.

I should be fine with the AMPs though for crossfiring 2 5770s though right?
Yeah, OCZ PSUs are pretty decent. I have a couple, and they seem fine. Ever since they bought PC P&C they have seemed to improve a little, just wish they hadn't killed off PC P&C
