Not interested in overclocking as I do not want to void warranty of wreck computer, so:
1:is this a great awesome gaming computer? Do I dare say, beastly? If there are any games it won't play, please tell me. This will be my convertion to pc gaming, so will need to handle a lot of demanding games....on the highest setting.
2:must last me a good 5 years. I am willing to upgrade componets individually, but don't want to for example, switch my mobo ram CPU in one go.
3:all prices are in AU dollars.
4: all though I have been told not to to wait until next year and then choose parts, should I? Majority will
rule in this situation. Although I'm sure this is quite upgradable, I would like to hear your opinion too.
If you feel the need to suggest a part and not help me with this build, please suggest one and post a link to www.centrecom.com.au

1.) Is it great... Yes it is a very good gaming build for the price! IMO... your i7 920 build was better but the cost is more taking away the price to performance benefit.

2) It will last you 5 years but you'll need minor upgrades to keep it current. You should be able to do so with your current MOBO, RAM and just upgrade CPU and GPU as needed.

4) I say buy now... Don't wait for next year's release of new tech to be release because there is always new tech coming out and you'll never buy. I always believe to buy when you have the money, unless you know for a fact something you want will be released in a week or two.

One suggestion:

• RAM: Corsair DDR3 4GB PC-12800/1600 (2x XMS3 2GB) CMG4GX3M2B1600C7 Ram - Better timings, which equals better performance.

You can also switch out your CPU and MOBO for an i5 750 for equal or better performance.

• CPU: Intel Core i5-750 / 2.66GHz / 8MB Cache / LGA1156
• MOBO: Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4 motherboard - New USB 3.0 & SATA 3

The AM3 upgrade will be cheaper but I would not say as good as the i9. They aren't as good now. They were on top the performance to price until the i5/i7's were release.

If they are in the same price range or thing in $100, I say the Intel's are the better builds. Right now the best price to performance build is the i5 750, which is why I recommended it.
