obviously there is the 1gb difference for anyone who was going to say that the latter has more memory, but what I am really intrested in is what does that extra 1gb actually do? I just shelled out an extra 70$ and I wanted to know what difference is made going for the more expensive version.

no difference unless ur playing at 2560x1600 lol, epic fail.

RAM doesn't affect the speed, it only affects the resolution.

are you serious...

What size moniter do I need for 2560x1600?

I think ~28''.

Video-RAM helps for heavy anti-aliasing, higher settings, and yes, larger resolutions. Though all 1GB cards usually give ~2FPS increase over their 512MB brothers.

around 30" as of the moment. sorry to make you feel bad, but i think at that resolution the gtx 285, even with 2gb would just be adequate, if not struggling.

..so dont plan on jumping to that resolution anymore, else, im guessing that you will again get tempted on upgrading your video card. stay on "full hd" and be happy with ur gtx 285 :)
