I am looking for clarification to the same question in the link above

I could not post in the link above because it is an old thread.

I have got win2003 server with a private ip address 192.168.1.50 (behind router) for small office (10 employees) , I would like to access a server

If I want to use the link above as reference (I know there are more secure ways like IPsec,,,,but I want to use the link above for the configuration) how should I configure the server to allow remote client (XP) to access to the server to manage it remotely ?

Do I need to configure port forwarding on a router ?

On the client side in the link above says

I could not find the option "Do not dial the initial..."

Which static ip address should I enter ? Is private ip address for the server or public ip address for a router ?

I did find that , if we have dial connection then this option would be available , but if a connection is not dialup (means LAN) then we wouldn't be able to see the option "Do not dial the initial..."
