Ok so, I am a 16 year old and I am looking to build my first computer for gaming purposes. I game in tournaments and on a competitive level, I like to go to LAN's and stuff like that.

Basically, my question to all of you is what video card and motherboard should I get with the AMD Phenom II x5 550 Black Edition 3.1 Ghz.

These are my current choices, but remember I am not really educated with hardware like most people on this site (which is why I ask for your help :D)

Feel free to tell me if there are better cards, even if it may mean $20 more bucks

And I am going to be honest with you here, I have NO idea what motherboard to get. I don't know what is compatible with what or anything of that matter, so if you could please point me in the right direction or educate me a bit on what to get that would be great =).

P.S. The main game I play is Quake Live. I know this isn't a graphically intense game but since I play it competitively I want to get steady framerates on all maps.

Thanks for understanding and helping the noobie :kaola:

Ok, so I think I've decided on a motherboard. I am going to use the one posted on the System Builder Marathon $650 budget gaming PC. I do, however, have one question though.

For my processor, it says the socket type is AM3, but the CPU is Phenom II x2, for the motherboard, it says it supports AM3 socket types, but I don't see the CPU type listing Phenom II x2, I see it says Phenom II x3 and Phenom II x4, Can someone help?
