Integrated WiFi broken? Or software issue?

Hi All,

I currently have my ThinkPad's WiFi adapter set to "disabled."
It's an integrated Intel 4965AGN.

If I try to reenable it, I get the blue screen of death -- the laptop then reboots. This just started happening; I haven't installed any new software recently. I tried upgrading the driver for the wifi adapter, no luck. I'm relying on ethernet and my EVDO (cellular) modem for now.

Is it worth reinstalling Windows? Or is it more likely that the WiFi adapter is toast, and I just need to call Lenovo?

Not looking forward to burning Windows recovery CDs, and going through the process of re-installing Windows, especially if it turns out this is a hardware issue. Of course, calling Lenovo won't be much fun, either.

So what do you think? Hardware issue? Malware issue?
Maybe Windows Update did me wrong?

Fantastic idea!

The Ubuntu CD images from ubuntu.com and physical media from amazon.com are all "LIVE" CD images, right? It's not like the "LIVE" CD is different from an "Installation" CD? That was my impression after reading the Wikipedia page -- that it was the same Ubuntu CD is used both (i) just to boot Ubuntu and (ii) to install Ubuntu. I just want to make sure I burn/buy the right CD.
