Original poster here ... when I finally pulled-da-trigger ... I bought AMD-965/MSI-G70/nv-9800GTX . For top.line "value" neither the fastest nor the cheapest.

I judged that kit to provide a better combination of initial build safety ( no overclock ) with plausable 'headroom' going for'ard vis' CUDA computation. It's expected to perform well for 5+ years while supporting an upscale Hanns 28" monitor right now in a non-gaming LINUX environment.

Ouch... I hope you bought it when Newegg was selling the 965 for $215, if you bought it for $245, you would have just paid an extra $55 just for 200mhz per core performance; I agree with Fazers with the 945/955 still being the best buy right now for AMD.

Good buy for your motherboard though, I have it myself and it's a great motherboard with tons of features and OCing capabilities.

The 9800GTX is great if you aren't planning to game and for CUDA/PhysX support, but an ATI 4770 could have performed just as well for less heat, less power consumption, and less money, if you didn't need the CUDA.

@Kokin

First of all, how about you throw that trash out about Intel fanboi stuff. Nowhere did I say I was. As a matter of fact, I regret buying the dual Xeon workstation that I have only because AMD had an offering that was much better at the time. But hey, for a 3,000 dollar workstation for 2,000 dollars, I wasn't going to argue much... I take what gives me the best deal at the time, not this bs about "oh, well, I think AMD is better because blah blah" Your assumptions is what messed you up. So you we can just throw out the rest of your post since you assumed and made an ass out of yourself.

Edit: Evil? Could you show me where I said "evil"? Cause I don't remember posting that...

@jimmysmitty

I get what your saying but it's still Intel's version no matter which way you look at it. No, Intel using marketing schemes isn't right...

Also, thank you, so obviously your one of the few that noticed that I knew what I was talking about. Give yourself a cookie...

One last thing though... Show me an MCM AMD chip, retail version that's being sold and I"ll shut my mouth... Exactly!!! Counting your eggs before they even hatch let alone tryinng to count your chickens from that...

@technology coordinator

You think it's funny, but Intel has played so dirty it came down to making money and marketing schemes. It ain't so funny when it gets serious. What would be funny is watching AMD going out of buisness and Intel crashing with them cause they got stupid...

But my point is that many of the things that AMD Fanboys say that Intel does, AMD does too. AMD makes fun of Intel in its advertising for using MCM, then AMD does it. AMD Fanboys constantly whine that "Intel ARE copying off of AMD!!!" but then AMD impliments some of the same methods.

Yes, it is funny. All the whining in the world isn't going to get me to blindly buy AMD. I'll happily buy AMD any time it makes sense for me, but I won't buy its products because of some kind of cult-like loyalty.

It's usually cheaper somewhere else, but Newegg's customer service more than makes up for that little extra you pay. Some online retailers don't even contact you back if something goes wrong.

Amazon is ok... They ship REALLY slow. NewEgg usually ships the same day, where Amazon usually takes from 2-6 days, and sometimes even longer to ship, especially if there are multiple items.

NewEgg is by far better than Amazon, but I do trust both.

Well well ... the specs are in for INTELs new i5 ... and they walk-all-over the C2D-9650. But, NewEgg is stone-walling the 9650-price. Still $320. Should be abput $180. For how long can they do this without selling the Intel part?

Or will they just drop-the-part outa spite ! PAY INTEL WHAT THOU OWEST !!!

Yeah, Amazon isn't great for fast shipping, but they do have cheaper prices than Newegg.

Today, I just bought a new retail Razer Lachesis from Amazon for only $60+free shipping, while Newegg would have been $80+$7ish shipping. I'll be getting my mouse on the 13th with Amazon, so it's not so bad for free shipping.

However, Newegg does provide quality customer service over Amazon. They make it easier for you if you ever run into problems, while Amazon is slow to react. Both are great companies, but for computer hardware, Newegg does what it does better.

They lowered the price back to 195.00 on Newegg from 249.00.I dont get it.One day im filling out an order for 965 3.4 and as soon as I go to purchase it Bam 249.00.So I go and refigure my whole purchase based on the amount I can spend on the CPU.Now I go to a friends to get a second oppinion just to feel better im going to smoke his setup and now its 195.00 again.I'm not going to stay up till 4 in the morning reading reviews and cross checking hardware just to be- bewildered buy priceing.All in a 2 day period.What GIVES Newegg?The price is out of hand.Your making money at 195 we know,were not deliberately ignorant.More people should complain!It's not fair marketing.

If you think that's unfair marketing you haven't seen anything.

My dealing with Newegg as a first time buyer
Yes I was told my order would be in the mail as soon as I contacted you that it was on the truck UPS.I see the product RMA #xxxxxxx Is infact on its way to

9997 East Rose Hills Rd.
Whittier, CA 90601-1701
United States of America
ATTN: RMA xxxxxxx Now they are saying that the delivery date is the 11/12/2009.That is ten days so far.Im not going to be doing buisness here anymore if I dont get some sort of comp.This is rediculous.By the time I build this pc its going to out dated.Now I dont mean to be a bad customer and I spent quite a large amount of money with your company.I made my purchase on 11/3/2009... Tuesday 11/10/2009 I should have my replacement case.As of yet, I dont see you've shipped anything.Plus by the time I build this pc the return date will have EXPIRED for warranty replacement.Also This IS THE 4TH EMAIL attempt to contact.Sincerely im very dicouraged and disappointed and I am thinking of a way to leave a possitive review in the Toms Hardware forum.Also I was told I could have a 25 dollar credit for the inconvenience to which I havent seen this either.Shipping cost should be refunded as well cause the item was a broken/cracked door on my Smilodon Raidmax case which was most of the shipping cost 30LBS worth.I want to be a good customer NEWEGG.Im just not finding a very possitive reason.It's my 4th attemt to have contact with Newegg and havent heard a word.What gives-- ty.w.heath@newegg.com.I'm planning on building 10 of these for Christmas just to get started and I need this one as a demo.I know three of them are already sold.I cant get my demo model done for display purposes.Newegg My hands are tied.I love your web page it's easy to navigate 5 eggs on that.

Hmm that's very strange. When I had to RMA a HSF, they responded to me the next day and they even took off the restocking fee just because I was unsatisfied with my purchase and I wanted to exchange with another HSF instead of a RMA.

Ok! It's Friday the 13th.GUESS what! I just got PWNED from NEWEGG.Get this.I talk with Joshua who was very helpfull in my situation.Everything I explained in my above statements Let me first off say NEWEGG I sincerely owe you an appoligy.Whew! Thats not easy for me.But they truely went above and beyond helping me.Most of the problem was the over charges which there were NONE! Those were refunds.Unfoutunatly there web page does'nt elaborate differances between payment and charges.In our discussion we talked about adding away for the customer to be able to know the differance and said changes would be brought up.I built the pc.It's Smoking fast I tried NFSMost Wanted and Battlefield2142.Both at full resolution.NFS needed shadow detail turned down abit but was flawless.Battlefield2142 um I cant remember cause I was having so much fun.Graphics were totally sick.I didnt know what I was missing.You guys got my list of parts and if not I bet Joshua would hook you up.Just ask for Homeshadows list.Dude It's 75% less than a gaming rig.More memory a new video card and a faster chip later.then your good for another 3 to 5 years.NewEgg Im sold and were going to do alot of buisness.Want to bet on it.Eggcelent service.5 BIG EGGS.
Sincerely One Tough Cookie

First time that I saw that, I was confused as well, but it happens when I use Paypal, so I understood it right away. In Paypal, it charges me negative, so it's like they owe me, but they don't.
