Hey everyone kinda new to all this so here it goes im looking at build my first gaming PC and been shoping around and doing research etc on what i want i settled on a Asus Rampage 2 extreme mobo and INTEL I7 920 i was just wondering if there are any pros vs cons to know before i purchase it or is it a good combo. (Nzxt panzer B case, corsair 750watt psu, corsair dominater ram 6G, and said mobo and chip and if i can get my hands on one a ATI HD 5870) thats the meat and potatoes of my build so far from what i have read it should do anything i want for long time to come any input you guys can give will be great thanks.
^ If you wouldn't be using the PC for anything else that important apart from gaming, then you should take a look at the i7 860. You can save good money on the mobo and RAM and invest in something else...
But if you will be using the PC for say professional work like Video editing/ rendering, photo rendering and graphics, then stick with 920(i7 930 will be out in few weeks time so might want to change to that)...
So first of decide about your requirements and then go ahead with the purchase...Not always an expensive part is the best...
Here are few good mobo and RAM to start off with...News is out that some of the ASUS and Gigabyte mobos offer USB 3.0 and SATA 6GB/s support currently...So you just make sure that the mobo that you choose has those features...

^ But I would just like to inform you that the X58 would be getting the more powerful CPU from intel rather than the P55...So if you plan to keep the PC for long, then X58 would be a better option...So its upto you to decide...
