Anybody have this same problem?

My v551 GSM phone causes significant static & noise on my Altec Lansing 5pc
computer speaker system as well as on our Motorola MA 361 2.4ghz cordless
telephone. So if my finace is on the cordless, and I get a call on the
v551, here connection goes crazy with static, as does my computer
speakers....

Any ideas or possible solutions? Should I look for new PC speakers? A
different cordless?

Your thoughts & feedback are appreciated.

-Chris

It is not just the phone. Or the service. Old ATTWS TDMA phones did it
too. It is just the frequency range, and poorly shielded speaker cables.

Moving the phone away from the computer helps.

Hello Chris,

If you have Bluetooth on, it may be your problem, or if the cordless phone
is on 2.4 GHz or you have a 802.11 wireless network around.

It's normal for your phone to do this. Your cell phone is a transmitter,
your speakers are picking up the RF from the transmitter. Just before mine
rings, it will cause interference with my computer speakers, I like it
because I know my phone's gonna ring. Also I'm in a weak signal area and I
can hear it "looking" for the ATTWS tower, which has a stronger signal.

Most GSM phones will cause static on electronics. I have alot of customers
ask me the same question. My answer, dont set the phone that close to your
speakers, or cordless phone. I know that sounds like a bad answer. But that
is the only answer I have found in 2 and a half years selling cingular.
The first time I ran into this problem was on my Samsung X427. I thought it
was funny tho, i would her a pulesating static noise out of my tv. And i
would tell my friends that my phone was going to ring. They would laugh. I
won alot of bets that way. LOL

Here's a better answer... the normal pulsing of the handset's
transmitter creates an audio component which can often be heard when in
close proximity to unshielded audio equipment - like speaker wiring. I
eliminated that particular problem by replacing my speaker wires with
coaxial shielded cables. I pigtailed the braided shield behind the PC
and attached both pigtails of each cable to a chassis screw. Using a BT
headset keeps my handset on the belt and off the table top and away from
the telephone. Caveat: you prolly won't win any more bets if you do this.
