an associate also has a hp ipaq rx 3715, which has the remote control for
the TV cable box etc...
question he wants to use it as a remote control to trigger the IR sensor on
his Nikon d70 digital SLR.

any chance?

Just get a remote control program that can learn codes. Then get teh program
to learn the codes from the camera's remote.

If I'm not mistaken the rx3715ships with Nevo which has the capacity to
learn custom codes. SO, yeah, it *should* be able to using wha tis already
on the device. The problem could be that the remote for the camera is out
of the frequency range that Nevo supports, but definitely worth a try.

P.S. Nevo is handy due to the large number of built in codes - if you are
out a a restaraunt and want to change the channel or volume on the annoying
TV hanging close to you, well...

Just 24 hours? ;)

But seriously, I get get in the teens now with the rx3115 and the extended
battery (2880 mah), depending on how much I use the wifi. As a nerd thing,
on a trip I have used a solar charger to good results to charge, but it
takes a while for a 2880 mah bucket to fill...

was nearby beaming the ipaq at the TV.... heh heh she got a most quizzical
look on her face...
