Hi all,
I don't want to be funny or anything, but can you buy a PPC with a
decent size storage capacity?. The typical amount of memory on PPC seems so
pitifully small that I believe that having something like a small HD like
those typically found in MP3 players would be the only way of making PPCs
feasible for music etc...

Just buy an mp3 player for mp3's- lower cost, better sound, better battery
life.

My Toshiba e800 pocket pc has 128 mb of main memory and 32 mb of flash
memory built in as well as SD and CF memory slots. I have a 256 mb SD card
and I just got a 512 mb one. I can hold a few hundred songs on my memory
cards or a few hours of video. Its wireless as well so i can access
unlimited songs and video through my wireless network to files stored
elsewhere.
My Digital camera takes SD memory cards as well, so i find it convenient for
displaying my pictures. I even use the camera as my memory card reader for
transfering files to and from my SD cards.
I have seen the capacity of SD cards up to 1Gbyte. CF memory up to 4Gbyte.
There are CF hard drives available also.

Some one sugested you to "Just buy an mp3 player for mp3's- lower cost,
better sound, better battery life." However, with a pocket pc you can play
mp3's and windows format files which are about half the storage size and
sounds just as good as mp3. And of course you can do other things with your
pocket pc besides just play audio.

my mp3 player also plays wmv files- this ability is not restricted to pda's
only.

Actually answering your question, the answer is NO. No Pocket PC available
has decent memory size yet (on the order of 10s of GB, for instance).

Try Asus WL-HDD - you can carry it about with you and connect over
USB1.0/Lan/Wi-Fi if you have it.

alternatively Pretec DigiBank - A harddrive that has it's own battery with
USB2.0 and
CARD slots (e.g. SD / MMC etc ) for direct transfer to/from HDD
