Does anyone use Auto DVD with DVD Decrypter successfully.

I seem to decrypt ok and the resultant winamp media file plays ok through my
desktop pc. However after uploading to my iPAQ 2210 CF card the media
player won't recognise the file. Clicking on the file brings up the
message - 'There is no application associated with "101 Dalmations". Run the
application first, then open this file from within the application. I have
tried running WMP first but I don't see a a way of opening the file from
within.

I have tried copying the file direct to the CF card in the iPAQ and also to
the CF card installed in my digital camera with the same error message.

Any help would be appreciated

What is the extension of the file? Maybe you should change it to mpg
or avi? (Just a wild guess)
Also, maybe you could install another video player?

The Windows Media Player on PocketPC does not play avi files. You have to
know in which format that program creates the output file.

I'm currently using Virtualdub (freeware) to convert video files to avi
format, using Divx 5.11 and MP3 codecs. You get excelent deffinition with
100 Mb per hour of movie. The program needed to play avi files is free too
and only takes 700 kb.

Given that i've already got DVD's converted to avi files, I just need a
player that can play these files. What program will do this.

Betaplayer is the program I was talking about. And you'll need to
recompress those files, to get a proper resolution for the PocketPC screen
and reduce their size.

Example: 320x172, 200 kbps video, 32 kbps audio. That gives you about 100
Mb per hour of film.

What program are you trying to play it back with? AutoGK creates AVI files.
Windows Media Player for Pocket PC does not play AVI files, only WMV movies.
(Although WMP on a desktop PC does play AVI files.)

You need to install an alternate video player on your Pocket PC in order to
play an AVI file. I would recommend Betaplayer, a great new multimedia
player, that's completely free of charge.

Look for it at:

http://betaplayer.corecodec.org/

If you have problems with that URL,

go to

www.corecodec.org

and look for links to Betaplayer.

The latest "stable" release is 0.4. However, there have been several
"unstable" releases since then, with a lot more features, abilities to open
more types of files (including wmv and wma, with a plug-in), etc. (I suspect
a new "stable" release will be out soon.) Anyhow, don't let the "unstable"
name scare you, I'd suggest installing the latest "unstable" release rather
than 0.4, but either would work to play your AVIs from AutoGK.

The only movies that WMP-PPC will play are WMVs. You could import the AVI
created with AutoGK into Windows Movie Maker or Windows Media Encoder (both
free from Microsoft), and convert to a WMV. I would suggest the other
option, however, using Betaplayer to play your AVIs.
