Hi everybody, http://img.tomshardware.com/forum/ [...] /icon7.gif

I am new to the site. I want to upgrade my computer to a AMD based one. Please review listed components and let me know if I'm ordering incompatable parts or over/under doing anything. I'm basically trying to build a mid range gaming machine that can play all current games without highest settings and will be somewhat future proof. Opinion/suggestion on the listed components would be greatly appreciated. I am little confused about the motherboard (780g or 790x) & graphics card (4830 or 4850). I can stretch my budget a bit if necessary.

CPU:
Athlon x2 7750 (2700mhz) black edition

MEMORY:
2 x 2gb kingston ddr2 1066mhz

SPEAKER:
Creative inspire T6200

SOUND CARD:
Creative PCI Express X-Fi Xtreme Audio
Asus Xonar DX PCI Express

MOTHERBOARD:
Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4(rev. 1.0) without g/card
Gigabyte GA - MA78G – UD3H (rev 1.0)
Gigabyte GA - MA78G - DS3H (rev 2.x)

GRAPHICS CARD:
MSI R4830-T2D512-OC
Palit Radeon HD4830
Palit Radeon HD4850 Sonic
Asus 4850 MATRIX/HTDI/512M (heat problem !!)

Cooling: Do I need any extra fans/heatsinks?

Thanks!!

The chipset you want is the 790GX.

The 7750 is not a particularly good CPU. The 6000 or 6400 are faster, and the 6000 is usually the same price.

The only AMD CPUs I would actually recommend however are the Phenom IIs.

If you had a budget that would help.

Phenom II is too much costly for me. reason for choosing 7750 is given below: -

Athlon 64 X2 7750
Core Kuma
Operating Frequency 2.7GHz
Hyper Transports 3600MHz
L1 Cache 2 x 128KB
L2 Cache 2 x 512KB
L3 Cache 2MB
Manufacturing Tech 65 nm
Thermal Power 95W

Athlon 64 X2 6400+
Core Windsor
Operating Frequency 3.2GHz
Hyper Transports 2000MHz
L1 Cache 2 x 128KB
L2 Cache 2 x 1MB
L3 Cache -
Manufacturing Tech 90 nm
Thermal Power 125W

Athlon 64 X2 6000+
Core Brisbane
Operating Frequency 3.1GHz
Hyper Transports 2000MHz
L1 Cache 2 x 128KB
L2 Cache 2 x 512KB
L3 Cache -
Manufacturing Tech 65 nm
Thermal Power 89W

lastly 7750 also supprots ddr2 1066mhz

AMDs numbers don't actually mean much. You should look at actual benchmarks.

will pairing it with ddr2 1066mhz improve the performance ?

From what I can tell, that bench was done with 1066 DDR2. Since the other benchmark I saw was actually worse, I'm guessing that's as good as it gets.

1. Clock for clock the x2 7750BE is the way forward and runs cooler!

The selected gigabyte m/boards support hybrid crossfire. If I use 3470 with integrated graphics of the m/board instead of purchasing a relatively costly 4830, would it serve my purpose of playing all current games without highest settings? or should I choose Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H (rev. 1.0) motherboard with side port memory for hybrid crossfire? Will side port memory help? I have a 19" monitor.

Hmm ok i do up rigs on latest AMD IGP too. If you thinking of hybrid crossfire i suggest learning to OC that HD3300 IGP and game on 1024 x 768, low-mid settings mostly depending on games.

For a 19" higher resolution gaming go for the HD4830!
