Well thats a great build, except buy a velociraptor for your main driver. You are spending too much, get one or two cards, get a cheaper CPU, i just think its gonna lose all value to quickly

To me, that seems like you would spend a lot of cash.

I would go with the lower end CPU from i7 and OC it.

Check the roundup of X58 boards at anandtech.com - I would check out the Asus or the Gigabyte instead.

Honestly, I would build something for less than that, save the $$$ for upgrades or system overhaul in a few years. The money you are spending to be at the bleeding edge will be surpassed soon.

If you have $6000 and nothing else to do with it, I guess it's your money, but I would spend half that or less and get a killer system, and upgrades for the future.

You could try the RAID already on the motherboard first.

3 GTX 280s is a lot of horsepower.

You may want to try onboard sound before you buy a Audio card.

+78 to huron...

Also where do you think your going to fit all those cards? the 3 GTX 280's are going to cover everything. :D

The good news is that its going to keep your whole house warm in winter .

The bad news is you will have to put on earmuffs just to go in side . I'd rather live next to an airforce base

You will most likely have a heating issue with the 3 gtx 280s. Having all three bunch up agaisnt each other will cause problems. Should consider water cooling for these.

That is true... You could probably save money on a toaster as well, just hold your bread up to the graphics exhaust and it'd be golden brown in no time.

Nah, your not a fool dude...

Exactly - very smart to seek advice.

If you're going i7 - try this:

920 CPU

Asus X58

6GB Triple Channel Memory

Western Digital 640 GB HDD (black if you want ot spend the extra $15-$20) or SSD or Velociraptor if you want to spend a lot more - I would go with the 640GB

GTX 280 or 4870x2 (benefit of crossfire and SLI board)

Monitor looks beautiful - way out of my price range, but probably stunning - you'll have to sit like 5 feet from that thing :)

PC Power and Cooling, Corsair, Antec PSUs are good choices

After market cooler for that CPU so you can overclock it up to the specs of a processor twice its price.

Blu-ray burner is OK if you plan on using it, but my guess is that they will come down in price.

Let us know if you revise your list.

That CPU gets beat by the one huron posted, the new 920 i7.
And the 920 is cheaper, and also a great overclocker, you can easily overclock it to 3.7ghz.

They use the new x58 boards like this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6813131346

And then those boards support the new triple channel ddr3 memory.
Here is a good set:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820231230

And if you want more HDD speed, you could raid 0 two of those WD 640's.

That PSU is overkill. Get an Antec Signature 850W PSU. Reviews on it have been incredible; I'd love to have one.

Your final list is much better. I would still suggest using onboard sound before you try a sound card. Onboard sound is actually pretty good now.

I still think your PSU is major overkill. You might want to check out something with a little bit less power - even if you are going to get a second 4870x2 in the future.

Nice revisions. Good luck.

Reply to huron

thanks but i was going to spend 6000 i think that the sound card is suitable for me and do you really think that even if the psu is overkill it will let me make tons of upgrades before i need to change it and it will provide my system with the power it needs neither less nor more so i think that a big psu isn't an overkill and thanks huron you helped me very very much as i as crazy

IMO the case is much better than the Thermaltake. The PSU however is not as good as your pc power and cooling one you have selected, but it is extreme overkill for yoursetup. The antec 850 signature is still major overkill for your system and it has the ability to last you through many future upgrades. I would consider this a good item to have. Something to keep in mind is the number of watts doesn't determine the quality of the power supply (PC power and cooling though is one of the best).

i love this thermaltake and i know that the psu is overkill but it will let me do many future upgrades so thanks all and especially huron

Well saying that I think your at the point for hitting the submit button. Order away. If you can justify all the parts on this list which it looks like you have it'll be a good rig for yourself. Might not be the best bang for your buck but it'll suit your needs very well.

PS: that's the beautiy of building your own pc. You can custimize it to your own needs and wants.
