Hello,
Please bear with me, I am new to this forum. I currently have a Celeron 2.8 Ghz processor on a MTS mainboard. It worked well for a while then died. I am looking at buying an Intel core 2 quad, with a L2 cache of 12 MB, 2.66 Ghz, 1333 Mhz FSB. I am placing that on an Intel mainboard, 1333 FSB, DDR3, PCI-e X16. Do you think these two products will work good together.

I am starting a business of photography. I have all the software I need, however not a computer to run them on. I understand this mainboard does not have an on board video output. So now I need a video card, graphics card, or a graphics accelerator. Are these terms interchangeable? I am trying to stay away from AMD,so the ATI Radeon video cards are out of the picture. This leaves Intel and NDVIDA cards. Does anyone have a preference or a suggestion on which card to use. I only play low level computer games. So I am not a gamer but I do need a card that can produce superb images for my business. And I also want to keep the price under $200 or $250.

Thanks,
Tom T.

Sure, a Q9550 will work fine with DDR3, as long as the motherboard is right. Here's a good one that supports DDR3 and Intel quads:

Yes those terms are interchangeable.

There's no such thing as an Intel video card. Maybe if you wait for Larrabee, in 2010 or later... Since you've got this allergy to AMD, your only choice is nVidia. A 9600GT should be about right for your needs.

Ok I see nothing wrong with the choice Aevm gave you except:

You could get a new i7 920 quad core with 8 threads for less then the q9550 and the x48 mobo he picked.

Old tech for more money, or newer tech for less. You be the judge. I assume if you do photography you will do weddings, and sooner or later someone will also want you to shoot a video ar make a picture slideshow dvd and the I7 will pown the 9550.

+1 for the i7 920 ....but you will have to wait a whole day to order it.

If your going Nvidia I would get the 9800gt over the 9600gt.
