I am very confused as to how i am going to control my htpc, here are the options i have come up with so far
1. use a remote
2. use a 7" touch screen

Here is the case that i have just brought

So here are my questions
(for option 1)
1. how can i use a mouse when i am using just a remote?
2. i am currently looking into the logitech harmony 525, wll this be ok for a htpc (do you have any other suggestions)
3. is there any way of getting the pc to turn on by remote control?

(for option 2)
1. is this possible?
2. can i use the screen to play music withput the monitor being on?
3 any good suggestions for a 7" screen or smaller?

Overall i am looking for functionality, and if that means that a remote will be better then a remote i will by.

thanks to all replies in advance

Buy an IR keyboard with built in mouse, or redio keyboard with built in mouse.
I have a radio keyboard with mouse and an IR Blaster to control the cable box.
They work great.

Agree with the other posters. See if you can find something like this:

nMediaPC RF Mini-Keyboard w/MCE Remote

I have the Adesso version of this keyboard and it works well. It's a lot easier to use than a wireless keyboard with a joystick nub for a mouse (like this one).

Of course, this is assuming you're using Windows Media Center for your HTPC software
