well, Q9650 12MB L2 Cache , Phenom II X4 940 and core i7 L3 Cache too .
beside the 3 of there are so great on the overclocking as i saw but i heard about Q9650 can be overclocked to 4.2 and 4.41 too

beside i dont know about is the triple channel cpu with the core i7 makes better and higher speed and performance more than the dual channel like the Q9650 and Phenom II X4 940

it is so difficult to say which one is the faster with higher performance if we will not upgrade on the next few years !!!

so please help me ,thanks

The Q9650 and i7 920 are basically on par with eachother, i7 only really pulls ahead with multi-gpu setups and mass multi-tasking which then HT kicks in.

And triple channel memory has not exactly shown to be "better" or offer more performance than dual channel, its propaganda at best.

If youre building a brand new system, then i7 is the clear choice if youre budget permits it.

if you want the fastes system go with Core i7. If you want the cheapest systm go Phenom II. But if you want to overclock 4GHz+ go with the Q9650. Hope that helps.

Of course if you can't afford a massive LCD gaming panel and at least a 4870 and some water cooling then your talking about putting a V8 into a Morris Minor really ...

No point in getting carried away with a top end CPU if you can't afford the fruit to go with it.

That's why so many overclockers get a cheaper quad core and overclock it ... so they can afford to get get decent graphics and display.

The OP did not mention anything about gaming in his post. You know, there is people out there that use a pc for something other than gaming.
