Some Xpert wiring help needed

Hi everyone!

Ok so i'm running a mini camera on an RC plane and am using an EEEPC in the field to pick up and record the signal. I'm wondering if someone can help me with the receiver side wiring. So, i'm getting this camera...

it has a power pack that sends 12volts DC at 500MA which happens to be exactly the same max output of a USB port. My question..


How do I wire a USB ports leads to the leads in the receiver. ALSO what voltage does the usb port output?

Another question, I remember way back when USB 1.1 came out that the leads hooked to them were always hot (Ie the mainboard has no control over it) now with 2.0 I believe it may only allow power to be distributed only after the computer recognise's a device which would present an obvious problem. ANY help would be appreciated, I think this might be a simple if I had a multimeter.
