Hi,

I am going to build a new home computer and would like to hear some suggestions from you guys.

Functions:
1. Graphics/Video editing (Not professional, just for picture and video I take), including burning image/video clips to CD/DVD
2. Watch TV/DVD
3. Word processing/Word/Excel/PPT
4. No or seldom gaming

I wonder if I can build a system under $1,500 or even lower including a good monitor (good color appearance, bright, sharp). Please give me some input. Thanks.

$1500 for basic editing? Too easy...

Might have done overkill on the PSU, but it is right now very affordable (This is a top quality PSU) and you never know when you might want to get more power consuming components in the future, so this is one aspect that is very easy to future proof on.

As to the suggestion...

Motherboard:
Can I use ASUS P5Q LGA 775 Intel P45 or Asus P5Q Pro? I am wondering any advantage using ASUS's motherboard.

Graphics:
How about GeForce 8800/9600/9800 GT or ATI 4850? If I don't play game, will them more favorable than the HIS card? BTW, I like dual monitors when I do my work. Will it be a concern when choosing the graphics card?

For PSU:
How about Antec earth watts 500W and Corsair 550W?
