Ok I manage to get my hands on a ExpressCard to PCIe converter from a friend for free( this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6815124043 )

So I was wondering what to do with this and I saw this SSD:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Prod [...] 6820191057
8GB Lexar SSD. It's only $45 so will I be able to use this as a scratch disk or a swap file with a performance increase? Or even load up Linux (Suse or Fedora or DSL) on it?

Any other ideas?

From what Ive read that SSD isnt very fast...so most people are using those for backing up thier laptop HD. Better to wait for the Intel SSD's to see how much they retail for....but then you wont need an Expresscard Slot for that.

Maybe get a wireless N adapter for the ExpressCard instead ...if your laptop doesnt already have wifi.

LOL maybe thats why your freind gave it away....he couldnt find any use for it.....I guess you could use it as a Drink Coaster ....oh wait I got a full set of AOL cd's for that.

I don't think it will be any better or faster than using a USB flash memory stick. The key is how fast the underlying lexar SSD is. I think the SSD designation is just marketing.

Thanks guys. Btw, this is going to go on a desktop and not a laptop. I'll consider waiting.
