The prices are alot lower than I was expecting. I expect them to rise when the actual boards start hitting.

Well they don't offer 8GB kist anymore, at least I couldn't find any for DDR3, but thats about the same price for 8GB of DDR3. Not too bad.

Wow, is this a sign of ddr3 becoming the new threshold? The pricing will force more people to start buying the ddr3 systems now.

Great pricing...

we'll probably see 6 (3x2 GB)and 12 GB (3x4GB) kits from others, but they'll be expensive for at least another year. Prices drop as production and demand ramp up IF ddr3 makes it to the mainstream.

just get a pair of 2GB's. add another 2GB in the future when needed.
1 channel disadvantage won't be that much.

well that's actually pretty good cos the thing with getting 2x2gb ram sitcks for a system is that it wastes some of it with a 32bit os... with 3gig, it's k!

I to like G Skill.
These are still a bit over priced.
But the prices have come down faster than I would have thought.
I don't think pricing will force people to buy anything, but lower pricing will be an enticement.
My sweet spot is $25 a Gig for memory.

What do you mean IF? There is no IF. This is just like DDR2 when it first came out, only DDR3 has dropped in price faster than DDR2 has. DDR3 will be the next mainstream memory. DDR4 isn't planned until around 2011. Plenty of time for prices to come down more and speeds to go up.

remember ddr3 has been out for more than a year now... price drops are imminent, its those early adapters that bring it down for the rest of us

i can see 8gd ddr2 kits becoming mainstream in the next year

^If you look at the history of DDR2 and compare it to DDR3s history price wise too you can also see that DRR3 prices have dropped much faster than DDR2 prices have. Thats a good sign for us.

You can get 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR2 1066MHz for the same price as 3GB (3 x 1GB) DDR3 1333MHz

Faster speed will not best 'quantity' and better timings but you guys, please, keep buying that 'triple-channel' ddr3 marketing hype.

Buh buh but 3Gb ddr3 is 2-5% faster than 3Gb ddr2 ....

puh-leeze .....

Considering that there are no triple channel DDR2 controllers, I'd say 3GB DDR3 will be more like 40-50% faster than 3GB DDR2, at least.

Youre gonna have to "buy into the hype" if you want i7 eventually. Its just a matter of getting over it.
