Hi all, I'm quite noob on this board and I have been just researching and researching on my issues then figure I would finally post my own question, pray for some experts to find out what my issues are with the symptoms I'm going to provide.

My problem has been existing for a year now and I'm quite fed up with it...finally...

Alright, let's first state what I have in my rig.

P5N E SLI
Intel E6750
XFX 8600GT
Patriot 667Hz 4-4-4-12 2X1GB RAM
HDD's
500W PSU
VISTA business 32bit

There may be some similar problems posted with a different rig, but those solution don't help me much.

I built this rig around a year or so ago and it has been going thru the same problem over and over and over again and up to now, it's still happening. It basically experiences a freeze everyday. It's gone when I reboot it "once". It's always like this. THere are some symptoms I repeatedly have.

Firstly, every single time I turn on my computer, load up windows, and around 3 min. into it, the computer would just freeze randomly. Nothing moves. Even when I wasn't doing anything on the computer, it would just freeze. I had to re-boot it shutting down the power manually. This happens once a day and it is surprisingly consistent. After maybe a night (12hours) of rest, the next time I boot it up, it will call up this 3-min-into-windows freeze. Sometimes it freezes when I clicked too many things too quickly...RAM issues??

Secondly, it's just an expand to the first problem. Sometimes it doesn't just freeze there, it goes to a blue screen. Saying dumping memory (something like this) then it would go 5%...10... ... 100 then restarts itself...symptom of bad RAM+mobo combination??

Third symptom, I do play games and it freezes on this one game quite often too (just this one game). It would freeze and make a rapidly repeating sound (like a machine running at high frequency). I figure maybe my GPU over heats. So I cleaned out all the dusts and even openned the case to allow cooler air to go in. This did actually help but it still encountered some freezes occasionally. This game I'm playing uses both of my duo core. So, I dont know if it's either my RAM, or my CPU, or my GPU that is causing these freezes.

My suspect is the RAM and MOBO not working well together, causing freezes on OS and this one game. GPU should be fine considering it's not really overheating after I cleaned it up a bit. But I don't know...I would love to hear professional/enthusiast advices...

Then I figure I would run a few checks. I used PCwizard and CPU-Z and I got the following screenshots.

Sorry I don't know how to post pics on this board, I can send you the sc if it's needed to see what really is wrong with my PC.

I dont want to fiddle with the BIOS voltages yet until some pro's advice me with what I should do.

So, my questions are:

- From the symptoms and clues I provided, what does it look like it's cuasing the problem?

- Are there any solutions/methods I should try? I don't want to just try it out myself as I don't quite know a lot of hardware stuff

- I'm considering to by a Mushkin RAM 2x2GB, would this help to solve my problem? (but i read somewhere that my mobo is just buggy running dual RAMs... :??: )

Thanks for your time reading my post...

Hi,

Sounds like a problem I was having for a few months because my RAM was not 100% compatible with my mainboard.

The memory manufacturer listed it as being compatible with my mainboard, so I bought that RAM, only to later find the mainboard manufacturers "memory compatibility list" did not include my RAM.

When I bought RAM listed as being compatible by the mainboard people, all my problems went away.

Check your mainboards support site for the list of RAM thats been tested with your mainboard before you buy anything.

Hope you get it sorted, I know how irritating these intermittent crashes can be

increase mem voltage by 0,10-0,15 volts in bios... if it doesnt solve... you probably have capacitors that are not doing well... but you should also test the ram...

Exactly what brand, I'm not sure but it comes with the Antec Sonata III case. I guess it's branded Antec?

Okay, so I did buy a set of OCZ in the beginning (not on the QVL) and it didn't post. Then I switched to Patriot which wasn't also on the QVL. It posts and I'm the problem I listed above. Does this mean that my RAM may not be fully compatible?

THe QVL of my mobo provided by the ASUS is from like 2007 and they never update it. There is not a list for 2GB sticks of ram, just 1GB sticks. And the list is so short. I wonder if anyone else got a more update QVL for P5N-E SLI.

Some BIOS update on their sites states that it improves compatibility of more RAMs. THere are 3 or 4 updates that have this statement. Do I just update the newest BIOS or have to update from the beginning and update it 4 times?

Thanks!
