The only reason why i was asking was because they are currently the same price on newegg so it doesn't make much sense to get a dual core when i can get a quad core. Also i was originally looking at getting an Intel CPU so i don't know what chip set is good for AMD any suggestions on motherboards?

How much worse will the AMD be for Gaming then the e7200?

When you OC both, the AMD will be much worse.
The 9600 is one of the older models that does not OC well.

Personally I would never considre a Phenom, but Frys has the 9950 for $150 or so those who would

I dunno...

I do know, I use an E4400, which is a dual, and a Q6600, which is a quad... so why can't you have both?

Just google for reviews like:

AMD Phenom 9600 Black Edition

If you want a Quad Core (which is preferable for video and audio encoding since most of that software uses multiple cores now days) get an Intel. The AMD Phenoms aren't what they should have been. Intel is definitely superior as far as Quad Cores are concerned.

You can get into a Q6600 for like $189, and normally can find motherboard/CPU bundle deals on major sites (www.tigerdirect.com or www.newegg.com)
