Hi, is there any way of checking your motherboard performance i.e version of chipset (used everest and it states X48, windows device manager says x38 and back of the motherboard box says chipset x38) and to see what speed the PCI Express is working at.

My specs:
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit (clean install)
Q6600 overclocked to 3.0Ghz
3GB Ram
Asus Rampage Motherboard (could be x48 chipset)
Gigabyte HD4870x2 card
Zalman 750w PSU
Raidmax Sirius system case

The reason is because i have purchased a HD4870x2 and the performance of the card is terrible (same as my old 8800gt) i have done a clean install of Vist Ultimate thinking that might help but it has not done a thing.

With my HD4870x2 i get about 30-35 FPS in Crysis (begining of the game and middle onwards about 20-25), Settlers: Rise Of An Empire about 35 FPS, and Bioshock 35 maybe 40, but the thing is on all my games i get the same performance as when i was using my 8800gt. I wanted to find out if its my motherboard, or if the PCI Express 2.0 is not runnding as it should.

If you want better gaming performance, switch to windows xp or 2k pro. All versions of vista are slower for most games.

You do know that this information is available from your MFG's website, right? You did get a manual with your MB (possibly on the CD) right? You do know how to read, right?

One other thing, did you run Driver Sweeper?

I thought you swapped from one card to the other. If it was a clean install then that's not it. However, if the card is not living up to it's expectations then you may want to download the latest drivers, then use driver sweeper and reload them.

i've done a complete system format, downloaded all the latest drivers and updates, but still no luck

What did CPU-Z say about the mobo?

Does that Zalman 750 have the 8 pin PCIe connector?

Have you run 3dmark and compared it to the reviews?

What resolution are you running? The differences will be larger the higher the resolution.
