Hello ppl!

Few days ago I bought myself additional 2gb of memory, meaning that I now have 4gb memory in total (4x1gb 667mhz)
But when I installed the memory my Creative soundcard started to act weird - when I entered some games the sound started to scratch and generally **** up. I uninstalled my soundcard driver and tried to install a driver (Soundmax) for my onboard soundcard (Asus P5B motherboard).
Now the sound worked perfect again and I thought everything was just fine until I logged on ventrilo and wanted to speak with some friends while playing. My microphone didn't work anymore - and now I haven't done anything ever since but to check my computer for any possible microphone setting being wrong.

What to do? Has anyone ever had a problem like this, because so far I haven't been able to find a single thread on the web with someone having the same kind of problem.

I'm currently running with Windows XP 32bit. Could this actually be the problem, that I need a 64bit version for the mic (or soundcard) to work properly with 4gb memory?

And yes, I tried with another mic aswell, so the mic isn't broken for sure! ;-)

I'll be very thankful for any kind of help!

Best regards

Drolle

usually a 32bit OS will just limit your RAM to 3.75 GB
It shouldn't affect any other components, assuming that you installed everything properly and the memory is compatible with your mobo

Stole my brothers old soundcard now, and the sound+mic is now working properly.
And the limit is 2.93 GB it seems. ;-)
