Cooler : Xigmatek S1283 , and buy the bolt through kit with it also.

Gfx - ATI HD 4850... you can actually find the 9800GTX and 4850 below 200$ now with rebates and stuff, but i would say the 4850 is the better buy.

That sounds good how does the VisionTek 900241 Radeon HD 4850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP sound

i haven't looked at the visiontek 4850 yet.

what i look for when i buy a gfx card is...warranty, and reliable customer support. i've had vistiontek cards before and they have their own RMA customer support/repair services in case your cards ever go bad.

look at the different brands and see which one suits you, but in my experience, visiontek was pretti good to me. :)

Your build is extremely close to what I'm about to do. Same purpose... mainly gaming :). I'm going to build mine in early August.

Same processor, motherboard, case, hard drive, (same or close dvd drive)...
I'm getting the HD 4870, PC power and cooling 750w power supply, mushkin ram. For a cooler I think I'm getting the Zalman 9700 LED.

Also, I believe you may want to check on the ram. Unless you are overclocking the processor, I think DDR2 800 would be the same... someone else should be able to clear that up though.

My build on newegg is around $1400 (then I have to get Vista, monitor, keyboard to complete mine) so in total I'm up to around $2000.

VisionTek 4850 has a limited lifetime warranty.

9800gtx isn't the best deal. On the cheap side, you can get a g92 8800gts for the same performance.

And it only cost $120 ar.

On the expensive side, you can get 4870 for $300, which leaves room to cf another 4870 as possible future upgrade. It performs 20% better than g92 8800gts/9800gtx/4850.
