Hi,

My mother board is

It is IDE support. Can I able use SATA to IDE connector. Since I thought to buy SATA 2 HardDisk.

But I heard it is not advisible. Is it so?

A better choice might be to buy a SATA II controller card that plugs into a PCIe slot. When choosing one, make sure to check how it can be used to boot from. That probably also needs to have certain capabilities already built into your motherboard's BIOS, so you will have to check that part, too. In an ideal system your mobo BIOS can co-operate with your new SATA controller card's BIOS so that the two of them "blend together" in a sense and the whole system can use the new SATA ports just as if they always were part of the mobo.

Sometimes, however, you don't have a mobo BIOS with those capabilities. Then you have a choice. You can buy an add-on SATA controller card, but never be able to use it to boot from. Or, you can do what you plan originally - buy an IDE-to-SATA adapter and try to make a new SATA II drive work as a bootable device on an IDE port.
