I am curious... I have a bunch of Maxtor BE147j00b0311 drives. They're 147GB 15k 80 pin scsi drives.

Anyhow.... This one drive shows up in my raid bios as a compaq BF14687B56 drive and the allocated space is less than the rest of the maxtor drives. The other maxtor drives show 137.01gb and this one i think 136gb.

The circuit board is maxtor branded and is dated 2004 which matches the manufacture date on the label.

Any ideas why this shows up as a compaq drive? Did somebody just replace the board and put a new label on this drive?

Its probably just a compaq branded drive made for them by maxtor. I wouldn't worry about.
Now if it came out of the box like this then I would be returning.

The problem is that I dont think I can put it into a raid w\ the other drives because it shows up as smaller than the other drives.

And it has the same label as the other drives do.

you should be able to put it in RAID, the other drives would just be limited to 136GB aswell.
