I have a Maxtor Personal Storage 3200 external drive and have forgotten how to back up on it. When you plug in the USB isn't a backup utility box supposed to show up on the computer?

Also I had some files I was trying to read from a previous computer and XP operating system back up. Now I have Vista and I can't read those files.

Maxtor is now Seagate, I can't find your model there. Check the model number and go to Seagate to see if it matches any Maxtor models.
